Publications

The picures are simple reproductions of my publications to illustate the manner in which my photos were used. No advertising agency was involved. The manner of direction, the production, the lighting, and the the end result was exclusively my idea. None of the images were digitaly enhanced or manipulated. All of the essential elements took place at the time of shoothing. Color and density are the only factors that I altered in post production.

Kodak Heft

Kodak Magazine

One day in 1996, a jounalist from the Kodak Company contacted me for a telephone interview for the Magazine Kodak Vista News. This was a magazine exclusive to the world of professional photographers. The main focus of the interview was to ask my opinion regarding Kodak Photo Film and to determine my level of satisfaction. The jounalist was especially interested since I am also a cinematographer and use Kodak Color Negative materials just like the cinematographers who make Hollywood movies. She was interested in the multifaceted nature of my work at the Nuclear Research Center of  Karlsruhe (now known as Karlsruhe Institute of Technology or K.I.T.).

TechniScope Publikation

TechniScope Publication

In a small market in Waghaeusel, I met a man who was the editor of Cine 8-16 Magazine, and who was still interested in analog film.  Even in a digital age, this magazine has a central focus of analog materials.  We discussed the use of TechiScope, especially my  ARRI-Flex 2C camera and the fact that I feel so comfortable with this format because it is so economical that it moves closer to the 16 mm film world but with the advantage of the visual impression of 35 mm. This captured his interest so much so that he decided to print an article about TechniScope with me delivering text and photos.

I made numerous advertising photos, which enhanced for the PR Department
and the scientists. My PR administrator gave me direct access to work
with the scientists. No advertising agency was ever involved. I
received ideas for the images from the scientists and I developed the
concept and the image from that point.

In order to present the real everyday worker in its workenvironment in a sympathi way and always good looking, it is essencienl to arrange much more then camera and light, but often its the light that helps to enhance the story.

Der Film: Das Boot

Exhibition

"The Boat" is a 1981 German epic war film written and directed by Wolfgang Petersen.
The pictures originated in France, La Rochelle on the Atlantic Coast. They show the development of the film.
The images were used in an exhibition which was presented at different locations over the years.
They were last shown at the Kamerapreis (Camera Award) of the University  of Marburg for Cinematographer Jost Vacano , who photographed the boat.

If anyone is interested in this exhibition in any ways, please feel free to contact me.

Flip Book Festival

A Flip Book movie, made in 1973 and digitized in 2003. It was the winner of the first International Flip Book Festival in Stuttgart, Germany at the Palace Schloss Solitude 2004. The concept was mine and was drawn over a period of years. I digitized it with a camera an brought it to life with Adobe After Effects.
My colleague, Ernst Kubitza, played the music. The film was used as an advertisement on a regional news channel network after the news broadcast and preceding the weather.
In a short SWR interview, I provided information about the the former genesis (of flip books) and its mutation to a presentable movie with today's medium.

Presentation

My presentation about the issue of apprenticeship in the Chamber of Crafts in Karlsruhe, Germany.

On a so called regional-day. I addressed young people, along with some parents, and other delegates of potential trainee opportunities.

To present the character of the craft itself was my goal, much more than to make a show of our high tech instruments at  the research center where I worked.
